North York Orthodontics

Meet Dr. Harry Fung

Beautiful smile

Harry Fung, DDS

I feel very fortunate to be in a profession where I help create lifelong smiles for people of all ages around the world.  As an orthodontist, a beautiful new smile is rewarding, but most gratifying for me is seeing patients improve their self-esteem and quality of their life post-treatment.  Even more rewarding are the few young patients who aspire to or eventually become dentists and orthodontists.

Since 1989, our long-standing practice has expanded with the rapid growth and increasing diversity of the City of Toronto.  Today our patient families reflect the diversity of our city.  We make it our mission to educate and communicate to our patients all phases of their treament plan with our multilingual staff.  This philosophy is an important factor in establishing trust and good rapport with our patients and their families and contributes to our strong reputation in the community.

Education and Experience

I graduated from the University of Toronto Dental School in 1977 with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.  After practising as a dentist in Hong Kong and Toronto for four years (1977-1980),  I returned to Boston University and obtained my Certificate of Orthodontics (1981-1983).  Upon graduating, I practised orthodontics in Syracuse, New York for five years (1983-1988), before returning to Toronto, in 1989, to start North York Orthodontics.

Staying abreast of new and leading edge clinical and patient communication skills and treatment technology are of critical important to our practice.  I stay current by attending education courses and seminars hosted by local and national dental and orthodontic associations in Canada and the United States.  I am a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, Canadian Association of Orthodontics and Ontario Association of Orthodontics, in addition, I was a past president of the Canadian Chinese Dental Society of Ontario.

Outside the Office

I am a native of Hong Kong and Toronto has been my home for the past 40 years. I am blessed with three wonderful sons. Giving back to the community through volunteering is important to me.  In 2008, I spent two weeks in the Dominican Republic with the Smile Foundation working as a volunteer orthodontist at seven non-profit clinics throughout the island. I enjoy international travel, running marathons, playing tennis and golf.
